| Saving Your Memories |
Convert your old analogue video tapes to digital and save your memories forever! Magnetic tapes such as VHS and 8mm
camcorder tapes deteriorate over time due to repeated playback as well as factors such as dust, moisture and temperature.
This will in time render the tapes unplayable and your memories will be lost forever. Digitising the tapes
before the quality degrades will ensure you keep your cherished memories for many years to come,
in a safe and high quality format. The sooner this is done the better: video tape has an average shelf life
of only 10 years if stored correctly. Most DVDs have a shelf life of 100 years!
We can transfer any video material for you from your personal, family or business collection. We can also archive
photos, video or audio from other sources such as memory cards and CDs. A complete list of all the formats
and various media available for archiving is provided on the Media Information page.
Along with providing valuable archiving of your memories, these DVDs make an ideal gift for Christmas, birthdays,
anniversaries or any special occasion.
The reasons for converting all your tapes to digital are clear:
- Video tapes deteriorate over time. They fade, get damaged, mouldy, stained, scratched, torn, and bent.
- Tapes can break or jam machines when played.
- Tapes are slow to find a specific point to view. Tapes require rewinding and fast forwarding.
- Secure your memories for generations to come with multiples copies. Digital images do not degrade as they are
copied and reproduced. A well cared for DVD can last up to 100 years!
- Get rid of those boxes and racks of tapes. Gain back valuable space in your home and cupboards.
- Digitising your film collection will allow you to find, view and share the video you want faster and easier
than ever.
- Save, restore and enhance your videos. Prevent ageing and optimise the image and sound quality.
- Mail your DVDs, upload them to the web, and share them with friends and family.
- Save your videos to portable devices, such a mobile phones, and carry them with you always, ready to show
others.
- Tapes aren't compatible with today's computers
- With Virtuoso IT, it's easy, it's quick, and it's convenient!
DVD is now the standard in both production and storage of photographic and video media. It is relatively cheap
to produce, easy to store, will maintain the quality of the transferred or stored data, and will not degrade over time.
If you still have your wedding lying around on tape somewhere, then contact us today. Do not risk losing it forever!
If you have video of the kids, your holidays, family functions or any memorable event that you
want to keep, these need to be converted to DVD as soon as possible. Even those store bought video tapes, that
you forked out hard-earned money for, can be converted easily to DVD so they can be enjoyed again! These could
include movies, educational programs, kids cartoons or anything. As long as you filmed it, or you own it, you
can legally make a copy to DVD.
We use high quality transfer devices and techniques to ensure the maximum quality possible for your DVD
transfer. We offer 2 formats for DVD archiving of video tapes - standard and enhanced. Standard archiving provides
a direct copy of the existing material to DVD with a basic menu. Enhanced archiving provides additional optimisation
of the original material using a high quality analogue-digital converter and professional video editing and DVD authoring software. This option
also allows for editing of your video if necessary, such as removing unwanted sections, and includes custom menus
and chapters on your DVD.
Both the standard and enhanced DVDs are published as Video-DVDs playable in all DVD players just like a store bought movie
DVD. However, we provide additional options of having the video saved in other useful digital
formats such as AVI, MPEG, FLV and DivX. These can be played on other devices such as PCs, portable devices and mobile phones,
as well as web-based video services (such as YouTube). We use top quality discs only, such as
Sony, TDK and Panasonic and we normally use the more common DVD-R format, although we can accommodate other formats as necessary.
Photographs and negatives also degrade and fade with time. By digitally scanning these in at
high quality you can preserve your images forever as well as making them available to enjoy on other digital
devices such as your DVD player or PC. Older photos can be enhanced or repaired to bring back the quality
of the original image. For more information after digitising your photos, slides and negatives take a look at
the Image Scanning page.
We recommend you also read the Frequently Asked Questions section as it provides additional
information that may be useful, as commonly asked by our customers. For archiving and digitising fees, along
with scanning options for photographs, view the Pricing Options page which lists both
the standard and enhanced costs. To place an order directly print out the Order Form and
send it to us along with your media to be archived on DVD.
